Privacy Policy

The short version

• We collect what we need to ship your goods: names, contact details, addresses, what's in your parcels, and payment records.
• We share it with those who help move your goods, such as customs, airlines, couriers and banks. If you agree, we also share your basic contact details with our sister companies. We never sell it.
• Because we ship between countries, your details are used in each country your shipment passes through.
• We keep shipping records for 7 years, because tax and customs laws require it.
• You can ask to see, correct or delete your details, and stop marketing messages at any time.

1. Who we are

1.1 This policy covers K2026782730 (South Africa) (Pty) Ltd, trading as The SA Vietnam Shipping Company ("we", "us"). It applies to our website, our customer, courier and admin portals, and our messages to you. It is for our customers. Information about our own staff and couriers is handled under their work agreements.

1.2 We are responsible for your personal information. POPIA calls this the "responsible party".

We only collect what we need for each purpose below. The last column is the legal reason the law lets us use it.

We do not collect more sensitive information, such as health details or religious beliefs, unless it is part of what you declare, for example prescription medicines in a parcel. We use it only for customs.

We never sell your personal information. We share only what each of these needs to do its part:

If you agree, we share your name, email address and phone number with them, so they can tell you about their products and services. We never share your parcel contents, addresses, ID or payment details with them. You can say no when you book, and withdraw your agreement at any time in your account settings or by emailing privacy@thesavietnamshippingcompany.co.za.

4. Sending information between countries

Your shipment moves between countries, so your information does too. For example, a parcel from Ho Chi Minh City to Johannesburg needs your details in both Vietnam and South Africa. Your information may be used in South Africa, Vietnam, Thailand, China, Cambodia and Singapore. We only send it where it is needed for your shipment, and we expect everyone who receives it to protect it as these laws require.

• Everything sent between your device and our website is encrypted.
• Logins use one-time codes, not passwords that can be guessed or reused.
• Uploaded documents, such as payment slips, can only be opened by you and by the staff who need them.
• Our staff and couriers only see the information their job needs.

If we learn of a security breach that affects your information, we will tell you and the relevant regulator as the law requires.

7. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

• see the personal information we hold about you,
• correct anything wrong or incomplete,
• delete your information, except what the law requires us to keep,
• stop using it for a particular purpose, or object to how we use it, and
• withdraw your consent, for example to marketing, at any time.

To do any of these, email privacy@thesavietnamshippingcompany.co.za. We may ask you to prove who you are first. We reply within 30 days, and it costs you nothing.

8. Marketing

We only send you news and offers if you agree. Every marketing message tells you how to stop them, or you can change your choice in your account settings. Messages about your bookings and shipments are not marketing, and you will still receive them.

9. Cookies and similar technology

Our website uses a small number of cookies and browser storage that it needs to work: keeping you logged in, remembering your language, and saving a booking you haven't finished. We don't use advertising cookies or sell browsing data.

10. Children

Our services are for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, except as the receiver of a parcel sent by an adult.

If we make an important change, we'll tell you by email or on our website before it takes effect. The date at the bottom shows when this policy last changed. This policy may be translated; if a translation differs, the English version applies.
